Specialist Project Advisory Services
Assisting clients with procurement and contractual strategies
Through each stage of the process, we help to develop a methodology that aims to develop the best procurement solutions for the client. The successful delivery of a project is dependent on the quality of thought and approach at the outset.
Strategic Advice
In our experience, no procurement path is suitable in all circumstances and a balancing act is often required.
Our team work together with our clients and provide strategic advice to determine which procurement path is most suitable to achieve the client’s priorities as balanced against the budget, the required standard, quality and the relevant time periods. Our team integrate and standardise procurement and commercial practices to align with a client’s risk profile and stakeholder needs. Together with the client, we can establish new systems, processes and procedures across divisions to align with the procurement and contract strategies. These strategies are designed to manage risk, improve performance, communication and work across multiple departments and organisations.
Contractual Strategy
The contractual strategy often follows the procurement strategy and should, as a minimum, contain the type of business relationship, contract form, commercial mechanisms, payment and pricing provisions, incentivisation, insurances and any special conditions. Leaving contract responsibilities open to interpretation can cause problems.
Our expert team review and assist clients by mapping out the procurement objectives against the contract strategy to help define hierarchy of contract relationships, the scopes of work and the contract and commercial basis for each. Our team are experienced in the various standard forms of contract such as the NEC, FIDIC and JCT and other international forms.
Risk Management
Risk management is the constant management of unforeseen change to minimise impacts on the execution of the project.
A client’s attitude to risks often define how involved a client wants to be in managing the works, supply chain performance and the overall project outcome. Regardless of the procurement route selected or contractual form, clients often need support to navigate the time and cost consequences that can arise during execution and to avoid or mitigate the impact on delivery.
Our team is available to provide strategic advice to assist and manage these risks throughout the project to enable informed decision making and improved contract management.
